چکیده
Electrolysis is seen as a promising route for the production of hydrogen from water, part move to wider “hydrogen economy”. The electro-oxidation renewable feedstocks offers an alternative anode couple (high-overpotential) electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction developing low-voltage electrolysers. Meanwhile, exploration new membrane materials also important in order try and reduce capital costs In this work, we synthesise characterise previously unreported anion-exchange consisting fluorinated polymer backbone grafted with imidazole trimethylammonium units ion-conducting moieties. We then investigate use lignin-oxidising electrolyser. performs comparably commercially-available (Fumapem) purpose over short timescales (delivering current densities 4.4 mA cm−2 lignin oxidation at cell potential 1.2 V 70 °C during linear sweep voltammetry), but durability was found be significant issue extended testing durations. This work therefore suggests that membranes sort described herein might usefully employed electrolysis applications if their robustness can improved.

Poly(hexafluoropropylene-co-tetrafluoroethylene) (FEP) was successfully radiationgrafted with vinylbenzyl chloride (VBC). Subsequently amination with trimethylamine followed by ion exchange with aqueous hydroxide yielded alkaline anion-exchange membranes (AAEMs). Experimental parameters were established for maximising the degree of grafting (d.o.g.); the optimum treatment duration for maximum a...

Poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) porous membranes are fabricated via thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) with mixed diluent (dibutyl phthalate (DBP)/dioctyl phthalate (DOP)). The effects of mixed diluent are discussed in detail in term of morphology, mean pore size, selective wettability, etc. The results show that the membrane structure changes from spherulitic to...
